So you've already got a website
Do you have a clear idea of what it’s trying to achieve?
Do you still like it?
Do your potential customers like it?
Does it bring in the leads you need?
Will it ever pay for itself?
If you've answered no to at least one of the above, you need a WhiteStar Health Check. Other companies may call this a Website Audit, but I think of it a bit like going to the Doctor's for a health check. You hope he's not going to find anything, but you're really not surprised when he says you need to lose a few pounds, do more excercise or drink less wine!
What's In it For You?
You get an objective, no strings report, showing what improvements can be made from a prospective customer's point of view and a search engine's perspective. You’ll get to see where your website is letting you down, why it's not being found and what you can do to fix it.
But I don't just send you the report for you to read. That's not the way I work. I sit down with you face-to-face (or via Skype if that's not practical), and explain my findings, so you really understand them. I avoid techno-babble where I can, but with some of this stuff it's just unavoidable. So I use it, but then explain what it means to you, in practical terms.
After that, it’s up to you what you do next. You can choose to ignore it, make changes yourself, or get someone else to help.
Why Isn't It Free Like Your Competitors' Checks Are?
I charge a flat fee of £50 for this service, regardless of the size of your website. If you do some work with me afterwards, I will offset it against the first invoice over £100 (so in that case the health check would be effectively free).
I charge this amount because it takes me at least 2 hours to to create the report, then 60-90 minutes to go through it with you. Add in travel time to & from the meeting and you'll see just what great value for money this is - my normal hourly rate is £45.
And I don't use an automated tool to create the report, like many of my competitors do. So you don't get a techno-babble factual report about your site, created by a computer. You get a hand-crafted, opinion from the heart. I look at your site from a potential client's point of view, and include how your site makes your customers feel. No automated system can do that.
So What's In It For Me?
Potentially nothing - apart from the fee.
Of course, I’d love it if you asked me to help, but I’m not going to hound you to use me.
At the end of the day, I want you to have a better, more useful site. I'll help with that however I can. I like helping people - that's why I do what I do. If I get some business for it, that's a bonus - just don't tell my Bank Manager I said that!
