I love listening to music. In fact, I always have music playing quietly in the background as I work. I find it helps me concentrate and be more productive.
I've always been fascinated by why I like a particular song ar piece of music, Recently I've started to think a little more about this. I've found that it's often the tiniest thing that catches me - a melody; a riff; a lyric that resonates or sometimes even just a note.
In fact the song that sent me down this particular avenue of thought catches me with just that - a single note! The song in question is "Closer" by The Chainsmokers and Halsey. The song isn't particularly special in any way, until the very end, when Halsey holds a particular note for several seconds. It gets me every time. So much so that I find myself waiting for the end of song, just so I can hear that note!
I've come to the conclusion that every time a song catches me, it's because it's hitting me on an emotional level. That riff, melody or lyric stirs my soul in some way. And different things will resonate with different people.
So what's this got to do with websites?
Everything! Because a great website doesn't just have to be easy to use and look good. it has to catch people at the emotional level.
At WhiteStar, we find that the easiest way to do this is to get under the skin of your business; to completely understand your ethos and motivation, and reflect this in your website. By doing this, we hope to snag the emotions of your potential customers. Specifically, those who would be attracted to your company if they met you face-to-face. These are the people most likely to buy from you.
So when you're looking at a website in future, remember to look for the music in it; those little hooks that resonate with you, make you feel good and ultimately make you want to deal with the company.
It's a kind of magic!
